Imogen Bright Moon, Artist in Craft (Studio Textiles)

Imogen Bright Moon was originally a pattern-cutter and costumier, working with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Vivienne Westwood. On moving to the East Sussex coast, she decided to look at textiles from another angle, building a loom and teaching herself to weave. Working with a range of yarns and wools, her process is free, without a predetermined design. In 2018, her book The Selkie: Weaving & The Wild Feminine was published by Magpie Magazine Press. Her work was selected for the Grown in Britain collection for The New Craftmaker at Collect 2023. In 2024, a piece commissioned by Museums Worcestershire was acquired for the National Collection, and her book, Wild Yarn, was published by Batsford.

I have created a narrative in textile language in which it is the material speaking. I am happiest making large works that can be viewed in a multitude of ways.
