Watts Gallery is a hidden gem tucked away in the Surrey Hills, sure to delight any lover of arts and crafts. Founded to showcase the work of George Frederic Watts and his wife Mary, the gallery is situated near their former home in Compton, between Guildford and Godalming. It first opened to the public in 1904, before undergoing significant restorative work in 2011. Today, the gallery houses outstanding Victorian art in its Historic Galleries. and also boasts a gorgeous chapel. Visitors can also visit the former home of George and Mary, Limnerslease. The gallery also hosts one of the world’s largest collections of stereoscopic objects, derived from Queen guitarist Brian May’s personal collection.

Throughout the year, Watts Gallery put on workshops, courses, and have art available to view and buy. The Artists’ Village hosts artists in residence, who work on-site. Entry to the gallery is ticketed and is not free, however it is free to visit the chapel, contemporary gallery and tea room. Watts Gallery is owned by the Watts Gallery Trust.
