Prize to the most intriguingly titled exhibition of 2024 goes to Hastings Contemporary. The works in this blockbuster show, that explores the still life genre, are drawn from two of the UK’s most important collections: the Ingram and the David and Indrė Roberts. It juxtaposes world-class contemporary sculpture, video and installation against traditional still- life paintings. Artists featured include Phyllida Barlow, Louise Bourgeois, Sir Anthony Caro, Patrick Caulfield, Michael Craig-Martin, Dame Elisabeth Frink, Sarah Lucas, Henry Moore and Ben Nicholson. And a special mention to Lewes-based contemporary artist Abigail Norris, a rising star whose work you might have seen in the Unnatural Women exhibition curated by ROSA art director Rowena Easton for the 2023 Women in Art Fair.
