A wonderfully nostalgic exhibition, specially designed with kids in mind. Much is at child-friendly height and there are creative activities to take part in. Families can also follow a woodland trail to discover some of the plants that feature in Barker’s Flower Fairies books. The show takes us through artist’s development as a precociously gifted illustrator, much-loved by generations of children. NB: Look out for the stunning portrait of Margaret Burne-Jones, aged 13, by George Frederic Watts, newly hung in the Historic Galleries – its first time on public display.
