Run a Course

Learning new handcraft skills has a broad range of mental and physical health benefits, and is currently very popular.

Join West Dean College, Curious House, Eastbourne Studio Pottery, Clay Studio, and many more by running a craft course for Sussex Craft Week. We will get it booked up for you.

Open your workshop or studio

Sussex makers are welcome to join in by opening their workshops or studios.

We will add your event to our calendar and map, then promote it across our digital channels.

There are more craftspeople in the South East than anywhere else in the UK. Sussex is at the heart of the new craft movement.

Maker Entry Fees: Free for ROSA Artist Members or £50 for Non-Members.

Opportunities for Makers

Sussex Craft Awards 2026

Sussex Craft Week is inviting nominations for the inaugural Sussex Craft Awards. We are looking for makers who have created an outstanding body of work in the past 12 months. This could be an exhibition, collection or project.  Established and emerging makers in both contemporary and heritage crafts are included.

How it works

  • You nominate a craftsperson (by completing the form via link below) who you believe should win an award
  • The nominations are received by a panel who select 12 finalists
  • The finalists’ work is exhibited 20-28 June
  • Awards are presented in June at a reception and include: the Sussex Craft Award, the Highweald Heritage Craft Award, and the ROSA Craft Award

Criteria for Entry

  • The maker must live, work or study in Sussex
  • The judging is based on an outstanding body of work (not an individual item)
  • The maker must agree to exhibit examples of their work 20-28 June in Sussex

Notes

  • All craft forms are acceptable
  • No entry fee
  • You cannot nominate yourself
  • You can nominate more than one maker but each one needs a separate form
