Robert MacBryde and Robert Colquhoun: Artists, Lovers, Outsiders
15 Oct, 2025 – 8 Mar, 2026

A return home, of sorts, for ‘the two Roberts’, the Bloomsbury linked artists and lovers MacBryde and Colquhoun, who lived and worked in Lewes for two years shortly after WW2. This is the first major exhibition in England since 1962 to chart the remarkable arc of the influential pair’s artistic journey, from the charged atmosphere of 1930s Glasgow, through the gritty creative pulse of Blitz-era London, to a tragic denouement in 1962.
