Religion, Rebellion & Reformation
14 Feb, 2025 – 1 Feb, 2026

Chichester Cathedral was founded in 1075, which makes 2025 its 950th anniversary, for which the diocese has organised an exhibition celebrating the Christian faith in Sussex since the Norman Conquest. Expect to see jewel encrusted ornament, staffs and croziers, a simple Medieval crucifix and a pocket-sized WW1 Bible, and to learn about The Society of St Margaret and Reginald Peacock, condemned as a heretic for writing about theology in English. All extra reasons for visiting this inspiring Norman/ Gothic building, full of interesting art, from Medieval relief sculptures to John Skelton’s copper baptism font.
