Paule Vézelay: Living Lines

14 May 31 Aug

Construction. Grey Lines on Pink Ground
(1938), Paule Vézelay. Tate, purchased 1973 © the Estate of Paule Vézelay. Photo: Tate.

Born Marjorie Watson-Williams, Vézelay was a British abstract artist who cut her artistic teeth in Paris among Modernist avant-garde greats such as Alexander Calder and Wassily Kandinsky, before experimenting with Surrealism and Constructivism. This exhibition, which debuted at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, offers insight into Vézelay’s seven decade career, featuring paintings, prints, sculptures and textiles, from public and private collections.
