An exhibition of the work of Mike Cooper, who died in June, curated by his son, Richard. Cooper’s oil paintings, regularly featured in New English Art Club’s annual shows, balanced figuration and abstraction, often drawing on literary and spiritual influences. In 1989 he led a team which saved the Star Brewery buildings in central Lewes from demolition, turning the space into a warren of artists’ workshops, and a gallery space, still running today.
