Follow a trail of billboards featuring blown-up images of paintings of Newhaven by Eric Ravilious, from the Towner Eastbourne collection. His pictures are paired with responses by contemporary artists Emily Allchurch, Jo Lamb, (2018 Turner Prize winner) Charlotte Prodger and (2006 Turner Prize nominee) Mark Titchner. Ravilious was a frequent visitor to the town, spending two productive months there in 1936 with Eric Bawden (staying at the still-extant Hope Inn) and returning there as a war artist in 1940.
