DEMONSTRATIONS AND TOUR: Cement
14 Jun 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Demos of forging, welding and encaustic wax, plus studio tour.

Arrive at this new art school to be greeted by artists and educators Julian Wild and Alison Hand. Starting with a metal sculpture demonstration, Julian will demonstrate processes used in the school’s ‘Metal sculpture’ course such as forging, welding, rolling and crushing metal. The duo will then provide refreshments and take you on a tour of the studios, and give a presentation about their upcoming contemporary art courses, including their 6 month resident artist programmes with professional development. Alison will give a live demonstration of encaustic wax: a process used in painting where the artist builds up layers of molten wax mixed with oil paint. This process will feature in Alison’s forthcoming ‘Experimental Painting’ Course.
Places are FREE, but please book in advance below. There will be a few drop-in places on the day. Parking is available nearby, close to Newhaven West Beach and Harbour. Enjoy a visit to the recently re-opened Newhaven Fort and Cadence Cafe nearby.
