CINECITY 2025

30 Oct, 2025 16 Nov, 2025

Les Vampires, Dir: Louis Feuillade (1915), features in Sjón’s novel Moonstone – The Boy Who Never Was

Get set for another round of ‘Adventures in World Cinema’, at the Duke of York’s in Brighton, Depot in Lewes, and beyond. Expect a mix of premieres and previews, archive treasures, artists’ moving image, talks and special events. This year’s festival strand, ‘Cine Fiction’, celebrates cinema-going as depicted in over a century of literary fiction. This includes an in-conversation event with celebrated Icelandic novelist Sjón, who co-wrote the award winning films Lamb (2021) and The Northman (2022), and in 2001 was nominated for an Oscar for his lyrics in the film Dancer in the Dark. CINECITY has also launched a website – cinefiction.org – featuring dozens of examples of literary cinema-going, where viewers can browse the selections, read extracts and submit their own nominations. Festival Patrons include Nick Cave and Ben Wheatley. Lights, camera action at cine-city.co.uk
