Open Airs in Priory Park
Chichester International Film Festival

Just as the summer issue of ROSA magazine was going to press, we learnt some early-bird details of the 33rd Chichester International Film Festival, which will, as ever, kick off with a series of open-air screenings in Priory Park. Two films which are celebrating their 50th anniversary have been announced for these popular al fresco events, both of them absolute crackers: Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, and Jim Sharman’s Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Head of programming Walter Francisco has also announced that there will be a series of Jane Austen adaptations, and seasons paying tribute to Kate Winslet and Jack Lemmon, plus a focus on country music movies.

The festival will, as usual, offer a number of premieres and previews, with directors’ and actors’ Q&As. In past years film luminaries of the calibre of Sir Alec Guinness, Steven Poliakoff, Kathleen Turner, Ken Russell, Mike Leigh, Elaine Paige, Michael Winterbottom, Derek Jacobi, Steve Coogan, Timothy Spall, Juliet Stevenson, Rory Kinnear and Ralph Fiennes have appeared at the festival.

In all there will be over 80 feature-film screenings, plus a day dedicated to short films, talks on cinema, and live music performances. The event is organised by Chichester Cinema, the independent film theatre in New Park Road which runs as a charity. Pan into the full programme at chichesterfilmfestival.co.uk
