The season has already launched, but there are plenty of concerts still to enjoy on the programme. Highlights include A Christmas Carol, with actor Alistair McGowan and the BPO Brass Quintet (Dec 14), and Blue Notes: Duke Ellington, Wayne Shorter, Gwilym Simcock (Jan 25). We are particularly looking forward to Reich/Richter (March 23): ‘A feast for the eyes and ears’ that opens with Music for Pieces of Wood and closes with the shimmering lines and gorgeous textures of Richter and Corinna Belz’s film Moving Picture (946-3). Expect Yoko Ono’s Pieces for Orchestra, Terry Riley’s Half-Wolf Dances, plus John Cage and Lou Harrison’s Double Music to warm you up for an evening of colour and cool.
