Britain’s annual contemporary art extravaganza opened with a huge party that filled the whole building on Wednesday 27 September. The great and the good of the London and Sussex art worlds were there to get a first glimpse of installations by the four shortlisted artists: Barbara Walker, Jesse Darling, Rory Pilgrim and Ghislaine Leung.
Popular opinion on the night has Barbara Walker the clear favourite to win the big prize in December, and we have to agree. There is a surprising and somewhat paradoxical intimacy to her monumental portraits. Its a very moving show.
