For Kas Williams, colour operates as a vivid, exuberant current of energy that remains impossible to ignore. Driven by a fundamental curiosity about material interactions, she consistently asks ‘what if?’, allowing her to take creative risks and discover unexpected combinations during the making process. Painting serves as the critical foundation for her practice, establishing a diverse visual library of marks, images, and gestures. She subsequently translates these elements across multiple mediums and materials using a complex fusion of processes. Her signature Floating Artworks represent a direct expression of this painterly approach rendered into three-dimensional forms.

Ideas float and percolate over time, built from responses to music, textures, and patterns caught in passing. These elements shift until they form a distinct rhythm, signalling they are ready to become tangible. Williams treats production as a meditative process, assembling repetitive components until a delicate balance between complexity and elegance emerges. Her final pieces are often revealed through a rigorous editing process of stripping away unnecessary elements.
