There are six fine operas to enjoy this summer: new productions of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Handel’s Semele and Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, plus welcome returns for Donizetti’s L’elesir d’amore, Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress and Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. And a bonus! In Gallery 94, Turner prize-winning artist Lubaina Himid represents each of the operas with a symbol-rich painting.
