Woodland Open Studio with Native Hands
25 Jun 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Be guided by artist-maker Ruby Taylor around the beautiful ancient Sussex woodland where she harvests wild plants to weave into baskets. She’ll lead you to visit the various plants themselves, and invite you to handle the range of baskets they can be woven into.
Gain a unique insight into how Ruby selects, gathers and processes these wild plants. You’ll further acquire an understanding of her relationship to the harvesting, as well as to the woods themselves.
Each tour lasts approx. 2 hours and involves walking on level but uneven woodland terrain.
Groups are kept small to keep the experience and conversation meaningful. Teas and homemade cake will be provided. And you are welcome to bring a picnic to eat onsite before / after your tour.
Signed copies of Ruby’s book ‘Wild Basketry‘ will be available to purchase after the tour.

Practicals when booking
Meeting point: meet in the car park area (at the end of the farm track) 15 minutes before the tour starts. Please be on time so that we can all walk into the woods together. We will not be able to wait for latecomers.
Bring an extra layer of clothing as it’s always cooler under the trees.
