Building on curator Andy Friend’s recent display at Tate Britain, this is the most comprehensive exhibition on the Artists International Association (AIA) in over four decades. It highlights the work of founding members, including Peggy Angus and James Boswell, alongside AIA exhibiting artists like Paul Nash and Dame Laura Knight. The AIA was founded in 1933 to advocate for peaceful cultural development and international understanding. Friend’s book, Comrades in Art: Artists Against Fascism 1933-1943 (Thames & Hudson), accompanies the exhibition.
