Ellen Kent is known for her spectacular touring opera shows, two of which are coming to Brighton’s Theatre Royal this January as part of the director’s ‘Farewell Opera Tour’ (she’s retiring after 30 years in the business). First up is Bizet’s popular extravaganza, Carmen: expect dramatic staging, vibrant costumes, and flamenco dancers. This is followed by Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, featuring internationally acclaimed soloists, antique wedding kimonos and a breathtaking Japanese water garden. Both pieces are performed by the Opera International Kyiv, Ukraine.
