BOAT offers another season of alfresco performance, with its trademark blend of Shakespeare, comedy, family shows, live music and touring companies set to unfold across the summer. The amphitheatre’s sweeping green bowl on Dyke Road remains one of the city’s most relaxed cultural spaces – picnics, blankets and the occasional weather-driven plot twist are all part of the ritual. This year’s highlights include the Summer Comedy Festival (June 1-6) and a big welcome back to guitarist Richard Durrant (June 21).
