Over two nights at the end of April, the world’s largest school chapel will play host to Beware the Mackerel Sky. This ‘smugglers’ folk opera’ is being put on by Sing with Strings in collaboration with Bernardi Music Group, Yehudi Menuhin School and Lancing College. The one-act opera is set in Lancing, bringing to life the area’s richly intriguing smuggling past. Real-life accounts are intertwined with fictional imaginings to create a narrative replete with spies, conflict, mystery, heartache and kindness.
