Jude Askey-Brown works from a studio at the Godinton House Estate near Ashford. Her paintings begin as studies, observations and photographs, inspired by the Estate gardens and her garden at home. The studies become a prompt for large-scale oil paintings, informed by multi-layered mark making and movement. Her latest collection of paintings draws on memories of the windowsills at her grandfather’s house, which were crammed full of overwintered geraniums and cuttings, taken in the autumn to plant as soon as the spring appeared.
