Since its founding by John Christie and Audrey Mildmay in 1934, Glyndebourne has ascended the cultural ranks of Sussex and become one of the county’s real artistic titans. Over the years, the venue has been expanded (its current auditorium was constructed in the 1990s) to accommodate its growing audiences, and today seats 1,200 people – four times its original capacity! Today, Glyndebourne’s summer festival and autumn season host top-quality performances by world-renowned musicians.
